               Good Morning Jessie!

When we rescued Jessie she was about 7 months old and just as beautiful as she is today pictured here in her new home!  She is gorgeous with her shiny coat and beautiful bright eyes. Jessie loves people, other dogs and even is great with cats. Jessie is smart as a whip and her owner Lauren is just crazy about her!  Lauren writes; "I know as soon as I get home I'll be greeted with tons of kisses, and that always warms my heart and brightens my day"  Thank you Lauren for loving this wonderful dog and giving her a caring home!

 SPENCER!!

Now with a commanding presence after Mom and Dad (Connie & Bill) sent him to the groomers.  Connie writes: "We can finally see his eyes!" and what beautiful eyes they are (although not this naturally green).  Spencer has come quite a long way since he was first rescued by our group.  It took us almost 4 months to get this little guy healthy again -and look at him now -such a handsome little guy!  "We are loving him to death!  He is such a sweet sweet boy." says Mom, Connie. Pictured here with Connie granddaughter Logan Connie writes, "Now that Logan is walking the two of them have fun playing tag and chasing balls together.  Thanks Stop The Suffering for all you do!" Thank you Connie & Bill for staying in touch and caring for this little trooper!

Meet Ugh!

Ugh is a pure bred Rottweiler who came to us through an owner surrender.  He is a big boy! The vet had us put him immediately on a diet and get him in shape for his new home.  He came to us weighing 130 lbs and the vet wanted him to lose at least 15 lbs to keep him healthy!  So, we cut back his food, he ran and played and worked it all off!  Ugh could not be happier in his new home complete with his own new girlfriend Greta a female Rott!  He is looking fit and trim and healthy.  The Taylor's tell us "they just love to play in the back yard together and run around."

Niles aka Juan Valdez

This little trooper was so loved by all of our volunteers and was very protective of his foster Mom Cathy.  Sara and Mike contacted us recently with some photo's and updates and we wanted to share them with you.

Sara writes; "We just wanted to let you know he's doing wonderful and we couldn't have asked for a better dog.  We take him on walks every day.  I can't believe how much energy he has!  He loves to play fetch with the little balls we have and we've also bought him "nyla' bones and plush toy babies he likes to chew on.  He also seems to enjoy our visits home to where our parents live, and both of our parents love having him come to visit.  They buy him presents and give him treats whenever we come.  Thank you so much for making it possible for us to have our dream dog!"

Thank you Sara and Mike for giving this wonderful dog a loving home!  Thanks for the great pictures!

Check out Niles looking so handsome! He is all ready to go to the park!

Meet Otis aka Harvey

Otis was pulled from a rural shelter before he was due to be put to down due to over crowding. He is a serious sweet heart who thinks he is a lap dog. He is also a very serious cuddler who thinks he is a lap dog!  Otis found the perfect home with Joan Esch who writes:

I must have had a "dog whisperer" moment when i chose Otis - i cannot believe that he is so perfect for us.  He is happy, playful,  wants us to rub his belly all the time and loves to go in the car.  My parents love him - he is so gentle.  How did I know? Just from a picture?  I have no idea, i am just happy i went with my instincts.  Thanks again We adore him!!

Thank you Joan for saving this dogs life!

WOW Meadow!!!

We might have one for the record books here!  Meet Meadow -a beautiful and agile pointer mix.  Meadow was out for a marathon run down one of the state routes in Licking County.  She ended up at the pound and that's where we found her.  When we rescued her she was 4 months old.  Eve and Dave wrote to tell us about her new life chock full of EXERCISE!  Eve writes; She is so sweet, learns so fast and is great with our (at the time) 2 year old grandson.  I couldn't stop thinking about her.  My husband didn't think he would want a big dog, but he really liked her.  She is very high energy and loved to jump, so that is when agility training came to mind for her.  This way I didn't have to tell her she could never jump again.  It is now just on command and she absolutely loves agility!  We both do!  It has built her confidence and her trust in me.  We are on our 3rd agility class and we are building a bond that will last forever.  We think that maybe the hunting breeds might be a well kept secret??   I could go on and on about what we love about Meadow but most of all she came to us when I needed her most and she is part of our family now. We thank STS for being at the right place at the right time and for giving us the opportunity to be her family.  Eve, Dave and Meadow's senior Sheltie brother Devon.  Thank You Eve, Dave and Devon for loving and caring for this athletic little girl!

Here's Barley!

This sweet photogenic little boy was on the URGENT list at Licking County.  When we found him he was severely malnourished, with ribs showing.  We pulled him out and had to take him to Madaca Kennels as we were out of foster homes.  Last week the a wonderful family  fell in love with him at Mingle With The Mutts and put in an application the next day!  Jenna & Ryan are so proud to walk Barley to the bus stop each day with Mom.  Wendy tells us that the moms at the bus stop and our neighbors have already grown fond of Barley.  Wendy thank you so much for taking this sweet loving boy into your wonderful family.  We know he will have a great home with you!  We look forward to getting updates on Barley in the future!

THANK YOU JENNA & ANNIE!!

Jenna and Annie held a bake sale at their school to benefit Stop The Suffering and to help us save more lives.  The sale was a huge success!  Here is a photo of our junior advocates!  Thank you girls so much.

Hello Rosie!

This little dynamo has been the talk of her town.  Rosie was heartworm positive when we rescued her and then we treated her for Demodectic Mange.  She could be a bit of a handful at times and we knew she would need a very loving home.  We were looking for a special family and they found us.  Vicki and her husband Randy wrote to let us know how little Rosie is doing.  Vicki writes; "Everyone knows Rosie.  She loves to go visiting, shopping or just for car rides.  Rosie is ornery -it means she has her own personality!  I told the groomer they can stop putting bows on her head because Rosie is not a bow person!"  Thank you so much Vicki and Randy -we know Rosie has found the perfect loving home!   Thank you for appreciating her for who she is!

Dalbert aka Dallas

Dalbert was one of our favorite rescues!  His love for people and other dogs made him one of our little ambassadors.  We recently received an update from his new Mom Kimberly who writes; I want to let you know that Dalbert is doing very well.  Corinne, my daughter, renamed him Dallas – a name that he quickly adapted to. We took him with us to WV and he is a wonderful traveler.  He just curled up on the back seat between 2 of the kids.  We have since traveled to PA and again, he didn’t have any problems. The kids enjoy playing with him, especially Emma our 21 month old.  He is extremely protective of her – always around if someone is trying to play with her.  While at a rest stop on our trip to PA, she began walking away from the family towards the parking area and he started to bark – letting us know that she was trying to get away.

He enjoys being outside, especially when the kids are out and he is always in the middle of the action when in the house.  He still sleeps in his kennel but Corinne really wants him to sleep on her bed – he gets up with her any chance he gets and is very reluctant to get down. Dallas is quickly becoming a member of the family.  We all love him.  The vet even said that he seems like a very happy dog. Thanks for being preparing him for our family."  Thank you Kimberly for loving this sweet dog and allowing him to become a member of your family.

So Sweetie!

How can you argue with a face like that?  This little gal "Sweetie" is so aptly named.  When we got her we had no idea what she was, we just knew she was sweet.  Sweeties Mom Elizabeth wrote to let us know she is doing so well and had her first successful bath and trip to the vet.  Kye could not be happier as you can see in the photo Elizabeth sent to us.  She writes; "We're doing great!  We really enjoy Sweetie".  Thank you so much Dan, Elizabeth and Kye for loving this adorable little pup and giving her such a wonderful home.

Zach!

Zach is such a trooper and he had so many friends in STS.  We just loved him!  Jamie Rapp, Zachs new mom sent us this photo of naptime at the Rapp house and also let us know that Zach loves his new home and his new family!  Thank you so much Jamie for saving a life.  Zach is such a wonderful dog.

So Sparky...

Sparky (on the right) could not be happier in his new home with his new family.  Sparky's new Mom Peggy Corrigan, wrote to let us know that he is fitting right in.  "Sparky loves to lie at my feet when I am working on the computer and always greets us at the door when we come home.  It's like we've known him forever!".  Peggy thank you so much for saving a life and giving Sparky a loving home and family.

Shelby

This sweet girl could not have found a more perfect home.  Shelby's new Dad Andrew Snyder wrote to lets us know she is doing so well.  Shelby and I are inseparable these days.  She loves to fall asleep cuddled up next to me on the couch, and she happily follows me from room to room.  Shelby and Midnight, the senior dog in the house, take long walks with me in the nearby woods and fields.  Shelby also loves to play with all the other neighborhood dogs--she chases Labs and Golden Retrievers twice her size and, while she doesn't catch them, she sure tries hard and has a lot of fun. She gets compliments everywhere she goes, as she is just about as cute as it's possible to be.

Thank you Andrew for saving her life and giving her a loving home!

Here's Barkley!!!

Barkely was a delight to have around the STS dogs -he was always such an ambassador.  Katherine Everett, Barkley's new Mom sent us this update:  "Barkley and I are doing great! He has got to be the easiest new dog ever. He settled right in to my apartment and schedule.  We walk/run between two and three miles a day, part of it with the doggie backpack on. It is really helpful for tiring him out before he goes in the crate in the morning. I think Barkley's really enjoying being "top  dog" around here. He sleeps in bed with me and likes to sit next to me when I'm doing homework. He is such a great dog! I'm so happy that I  adopted him!"  We are too Katherine!  Thank you for saving a life!

Jake

This sweet boy needed a little help coming out of his shell and our volunteer Anne was just the one to help him with that!  Jake is in his forever home now complete with an Australian Shepherd for a playmate.  Jakes Mom Joan McConnell, wrote to us to let us know that Jake loves to run around the back yard and play and that he loves his new home.  "He is a loving and wonderful addition to our home.  Thanks for all you do to save these wonderful animals."  Thank you Joan for saving this little guys life!

Princess Honey Bear

Honey Bear is a sweet independent little chow mix who needed the right home.  When Steve and Lori Click contacted us we knew they were just right.  Steve & Lori emailed us to let us know how she was doing.  "Honey Bear immediately took to our home and made it hers.  She has her bed and her place where she eats and her own set routine.  She has her OSU collar and ID tag and has become quite the princess.  We are very happy with her.  She has a great disposition and her behavior (outside of being a little spoiled) is excellent."  Thank you Steve and Lori for spoiling this little girl and bringing her into your home!

Miss Maggie

Maggie's Mom, Erin sent us some photos to let us know how thrilled she is to have Miss Maggie.  Maggie has new siblings who are also thrilled - Clancey and Jack the cat are getting along famously.  Maggie graduated from Basic Obedience class a few weeks ago and will be starting her intermediate classes soon.  What a cutie!  Thanks Erin, for loving her and saving her life!

AJ and Chase

AJ & Chase are two Rhodesian Ridgeback liter mates that were adopted by Stacey Lamp.  Stacy writes; "After almost two months, they have adapted well in our home.  We, along with our other dog, Miller, absolutely love AJ & Chase.  When we first brought them home, they seemed to know it was their final home.  Chase was thinner than AJ; but now, you can barely tell them apart.  We are so very happy that we adopted them both from Stop the Suffering.  Thanks for all you do to help and assist animals and people come together."  THANK YOU STACEY for saving not just one but two lives!!  They really are gorgeous!

Kenzie aka Becca

Originally named Becca, this darling girl has been re-christened as Kenzie.  Becca/Kenzie was heartworm positive when we rescued her.  After her treatment, she remains heartworm free, healthy & strong.  Kenzie's Mom, Katy Jamison writes; Kenzie is playful, smart, friendly and she is an excellent guard dog.  She loves her toys and the snow  She has become good friends with her other furry housemates and many other people and dogs.  I am so lucky to have found such a sweet-natured and loving pet.  Kenzie is a wonderful dog and companion.  She wants everyone to know how important it is to test your pet yearly for heartworm and use monthly heartworm prevention. Thanks for everything, Katy Jamison  Thank YOU Katy for loving this beautiful HEALTHY girl!

Before:

This was Becca as she appeared on our Special Needs page when she was heartworm positive.  As you can see, she looks FANTASTIC now.  Her road to recovery was a tough one and not cheap.  To learn more about heartworm or to donate to Mandi's Heartworm Fund please visit our Special Needs page.  This Fund was established so that lives like Beccas could be saved.  Every penny donated here goes directly to saving a heartworm positive dogs life.   Life is so precious and is NEVER disposable.  Please treat your animals with the proper heartworm preventative.

Needa

This beautiful girl finally found her forever home!  Thank you to Kathy and Nancy for saving her, nursing her back to health and loving her!  Needa loves to ride around in the car and just lays down to check out the sites.  She loves to play in the yard and she loves her new sister Tess.  We love having her!  Thank you Kathy and Nancy  for sending us the photo's and letting us know she is doing great!  What a beautiful girl!

Trusty aka Diezel

Trusty is the sweetest boy and everyone in our group loved having him.  Recently we received an email from Diezels Mom, Laurie Ruggles who writes; Diezel is absolutely fabulous and the best friend we ever could have adopted.  Our whole family LOVES him.  The girls play with, eat with, lay with and love him tons.  He is smiling and wagging all the time.  He is very well behaved, and sits, lays down and comes on command.  We are still working on stay, only because his place is beside us all the time, it is hard for him to realize we won’t leave him.  You would be surprised to see how active he really is – he loves to run (toward you) and is very active with the dogs.  He no longer mopes or cries.  He is just plain happy!  We hope to come out to one of the events you are at, as soon as we make sure he is on the mend, so let me know when you will be together again and we will bring him to see you!   Laurie thank you to you and your family for saving this sweet sweet boy!

Laurie sent us some updated pics of Diezel and let us know that Diezel is doing fine.  "He is 100 lbs of happiness.  He is no longer shy or demure – he is home!  You would never recognize this once calm, shy, non-speaking dog.  He is bold, brazen and loves to talk.  He still loves everyone and his food, but he is well behaved and a pleasure to be around.  We took him camping and found it is hard for him to resist squirrels and raccoons but he loved to lay among the shaded trees and relax just as much.  He is definitely a family dog and loves all people!  How anyone could have wanted to lose this dog is beyond me and I am very grateful to your dedicated volunteers to see the potential in him and save his life!  I have attached a picture of him, the change is obvious.  Please keep us apprised of future events as we would love to show you personally the beautiful, happy dog you saved!!!  The Ruggles family!

Gabby

The Miesse family wrote to us recently to let us know how sweet little Gabby was doing; We have had Gabby for about two months and couldn't be happier with her. She is the sweetest most loving dog we have ever had. We have taken her to Washington D.C. and last week to the beach in North Carolina.  She travels beautifully and is a delight to take. Gabby was fostered by Bonnie and was obviously loved and prepared for her forever home beautifully. Thanks so much to Bonnie and the Stop the Suffering group for saving this wonderful companion. We love her so much already and would do anything for her.

Charley

Here's Charley!  The Lowthers wrote to let us know that Charley is doing great.  Not to be outdone by Spike, Charley is sporting his own winter fashions and he just might get a matching coat!.  Krista tells us that Charley loves to run errands with her.  Charley also goes running ( a couple of miles) with his Mom a few times a week and loves the exercise.  The Lowthers have fallen in love with this handsome guy and how could you not - he is so sweet!

All About Abby

Look at this beautiful little girl.  Abby's Mom Anne wrote in to give us some updates and Abby is feeling great.  Abby was a little girl from Pike County that was pulled with a bad case of kennel cough and a broken leg that went untreated for almost 8 weeks!.  The poor thing had been hit by a car :(  Never deterred STS pulled her and sent her to OSU for surgery (which Anne paid for - THANK YOU ANNE!) .  She now has 8 screws and a plate in her leg just like her human Mom!

Abby is now a proud Granville resident with Annes 4 other rescues; 1 brother, Buddy, and 3 sisters, Lucy, Mary, and Bella.   She is up to 5 whole pounds and loves those bones!  She runs and plays all the time and her healed leg doesn't seem to bother her.  Thank you Anne for saving this little girl and restoring her little leg!

Sugar & Muffin aka "The Girls"

Sugar and Muffins' Dad Jay wrote to let us know that these two girls are loving Pennsylvania and have made themselves right at home!  They love hanging out with each other and they love their Dad!  Thank you Jay for saving their lives!

Abigail

Abigails Dad Gary wrote to let us know that she is doing just great and other than stealing most of their bed at night Abigail has adapted very well to her surroundings. Gary adds; "She is very loveable and has taken up with all our extended family and their pets. She is joy to come home to at night.  Thanks to you and your volunteers for helping bring joy to our family.  As you can see in the pictures, Abigail is truly a “people” dog " Thank you Gary for saving this little girl and giving her a loving home.  She looks right at home with you!

Maxin' Murphy

This beautiful boy is thrilled to be in his new home.  Murphy's new Dad John just loves having him around and it would appear so do the grandkids!  John wrote to us recently and had this to say:

Murphy has become the "always been here" member of the family. His first couple of weeks were spent adjusting to his new home and learning to trust and love his new mom and dad. He adjusted quickly and now acts as though he has been here forever!

He has become very attached to us, and pouts if we leave him alone. If he can't go, when I tell him he has "stay", he drops his head and sulks. He goes into the living room and lays down and looks at me like, "I can't believe you are leaving me".  He handles his "alone time" very well. He has decided our upstairs bathroom is his place to stay, when we are gone. The only problem is, he thinks the toilet is his personal drinking bowl! His thinking is, "why go back downstairs, when it's all right here!"

All you need to do is pick up the car keys, and he's ready to go.  He gets his daily run at the park and becomes very vocal, when the time rolls around to go. Murphy loves the grandchildren and his dog "cousins" that belong to my son's and daughters. All I can say is we are very glad have Murphy in our family and can not say enough good things about Stop the Suffering and Dana his foster mother!  Thank you John for saving Murphy and giving him a wonderful home!

Tucker

Here is Tucker and boy is he adorable!  Tuckers new Mom Ann recently wrote us to let us know how Tucker is doing.  Ann writes;  "I have been meaning to drop you a note to say thank you for rescuing Tucker so we would have the opportunity to have such a wonderful dog. We adopted Tucker 2 1/2 years ago, June 2005 after losing a wonderful beagle mix of 13 years.    We met him at Mingle with the Mutts and went there swearing I would adopt a female, older adult beagle or mix but as soon as we saw Tucker, a 6 month old, male beagle puppy we fell in love.  Who could resist those big ears and partially pink nose.  He was taken out of the Licking county kill shelter, very sick with parvo and nursed back to health, thanks to STS.    After several training courses and a lot of "puppy patience"  we have a wonderful dog.  He is very head strong and independent, but sweet, loving, and great with his 5 cat brothers and sisters.  We think he is the cutest dog ever but we may be a bit partial!  Thank you again, Ann, Frank and Tucker Garcia"  Thank you Ann!  And thank you for contacting us to let us know how Tucker is doing.  We are thrilled to know he has become a part of such a wonderful family!

Jumpin' Jax

This handsome devil found his new home with dog brother Puck (on right) and new Dad Joe.  Joe wrote to let us know that Jax is doing just great and the vet has given him a clean bill of health!  Joe writes; "Jax is up to 60lbs, and he's a good 3 inches taller.   The vet said that he probably had worms when he was a pup, and it slowed his growth.  He and Puck get along great, and he goes out to my parents every few weeks and bounces around the farm for hours - he's a really good dog and learns fast." Thank you Joe for saving him and giving him a loving home.

 Owen aka Dodge

Look at this all- American guy!  Owens Mom Lydia wrote to let us know that Owen is doing great!  Lydia writes' "Owen is currently a therapy dog with an inner city school program in Canton, Ohio and works with children that are at risk readers.  He gives the best things that a dog can give; unconditional love and support.  We got Owen (Dodge) in July of 2006.  Wow, what a special gift he has been to us.  He was this scared, thin, unsure soul that questioned the world.  After a couple of months, he was a whole new dog."  Thank you Lydia and Don for loving Owen so much.  Thank you for saving his life and giving him a terrific home!

Beautiful Bliss aka Sweet Sophia

The Swires wrote to let us know how little Sophia was coming along.  Patti writes; Sophia is doing so well since she came to her forever home the day before Thanksgiving. She did get a new sister the day after Thanksgiving that was a 6 week old puppy. Sophia has taken to the puppy as if she was her mother. She takes really good care of her, cleaning her and letting the puppy have the first at the food and water. Sophia became ill a month or so back and as ill as she was, she still took care of her puppy. It was very heartwarming to see. Sophia recovered nicely and now has all the vim and vigor of the puppy who is now about 4 months old. Sophia acts so happy at home with us, she runs and plays all day long like a puppy herself -- we think Sophia may be just a little more than a puppy herself around 1 year old. She is a very gentle little soul who has made out lives complete and we just love her to pieces. She now lives with a new Mommy, daddy and grandpa along with HER puppy!!! We cannot imagine life without her! She is the perfect little chow chow girl and her new family wants to thank Stop the Suffering for bringing her into our lives.

Morning Daisie!

Daisies Mom Kara wrote in to let us know that Daisie was doing great!  Kara writes; "I enrolled Daisie in obedience school at Petsmart and her behavior has improved. She's a part of the family now.  Thanks Kara for giving this sweet little girl a good home!
