Our Silver Paws Program, an extension of the Stop the Suffering family, focuses on senior dogs, ages 6 and up, who have found themselves homeless and in a shelter.
We work with our shelter partners to assess each dog coming into the program for medical and nutritional needs. The dog is then placed into one of our foster homes while we look for a loving forever home that understands the ongoing needs of a sweet, yet experienced, dog.

Stop the Suffering depends entirely on foster families to provide temporary housing for every rescued dog and cat until their permanent adoptive family is found. This means that we are always in need of great foster families. We can't save an animal if it has no place to go.
Becoming a foster parent for a homeless animal is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. Because of you, an animal that may have never been loved or had a home will get to know what love and home feel like.
When animals are rescued, they are often very traumatized. Some of them may have physical or mental scars that need to be healed. It is due to the dedication of all of the STS foster families that all of our rescues are rehabilitated in full and
Although we are always in desperate need for great foster families, unfortunately we cannot approve everyone as a foster. Prior to being accepted as a foster family, STS has to do a background investigation to ensure the foster environment will work out well for both our animals and the foster families themselves.
