Transport

Save lives!

STS is very unique compared to the other amazing rescues in Ohio. STS operates a major transport program each week where we work with rural high-kill shelters in southern Ohio, northern Kentucky and West Virginia. We coordinate with these shelters and other animal rescues to help get dogs and cats out of the shelters and into rescue.

We load our vehicles with supplies and drive to the shelters. After we load our van with animals at the Ohio border, we head back to Columbus. We then have a route to Toledo and Cleveland. The happens in ONE day! We transport between 50-100 lives a week.

We are able to save 3,000+ lives a year because of this major program. Without our transport program, many rescues would not be able to save as many dogs and cats as they do now. Without transport more shelters would have to euthanize for space. This is the heart and soul of what we do.

Thursday Transport

Every Thursday our transport heads to the Portsmouth area and returns back to Columbus before heading to Toledo and Cleveland. The southern route runs 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. The northern route runs 2:30 pm to 9:00 pm. We also have shorter trips, only an hour or two, for those dogs needing to be picked up/dropped off at our transport stop in Reynoldsburg at 1:30 pm.

Local Transport

On any given day, you can help with getting dogs to and from appointments, events and fosters!
